I cannot prove that the three consecutive called strike three calls to end the Cubs Dodgers game were wrong from my vantage point far form the plate. I can mention that screenstills from the broadcast make each pitch look like balls. Frustrating!

Teams, players have no mechanism for appealing the seemingly arbitrary rulings of the home plate umpire. That is why a popular outcry for robot umpires – a computer who evaluates if a pitch is a strike based off of actual metrics and not eyeballs – resonates with the fans.

That’s not to say that the Dodgers would have won if those pitches were called as expected. It’s just that called strike three is a painful way to end a game and complaining on the internet about it is the only outlet available.
