Apple Savings to Apple Card 🍎
Started using Apple’s Savings introduced last month. I think it’s great to encourage people to save money, but using it is complicated. I had to withdraw money to ApplePay to apply to my AppleCard balance. Wish I could directly apply Savings to pay the card.
The Habit 🍔
Had dinner at the Habit which is the Pepsi burger chain. I don’t go for the drinks I go because I can get a side salad and the hours are decent. Portobello mushrooms are a plus.
Microsoft Teams
I don’t regularly hold video meetings so whenever I need to set one up with Zoom I always feel unsure of the process. I just tried using Microsoft Teams instead and the process was much more intuitive and I want to encourage other people to try Teams.
Air (2023) 🍿
Amazon Studios presents a historical depiction of the desperate quest of the Nike basketball division to become relevant by signing the third pick of the 1984 NBA Draft, one Michael Jordan. Matt Damon, Ben Affleck and Viola Davis are highlights of the film. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5
Once there was a way to get back homeward 🎶
I’ve been listening to Jennifer Hudson’s beautiful cover of the Paul McCartney song Golden Slumbers from the animated film Sing 2. The film audio has been used as a TikTok background sound which is why I found myself listening to it.
Robot Umpires Stop Us From Blaming Fallible Umpires ⚾️
I cannot prove that the three consecutive called strike three calls to end the Cubs Dodgers game were wrong from my vantage point far form the plate. I can mention that screenstills from the broadcast make each pitch look like balls. Frustrating!
Teams, players have no mechanism for appealing the seemingly arbitrary rulings of the home plate umpire. That is why a popular outcry for robot umpires – a computer who evaluates if a pitch is a strike based off of actual metrics and not eyeballs – resonates with the fans.
That’s not to say that the Dodgers would have won if those pitches were called as expected. It’s just that called strike three is a painful way to end a game and complaining on the internet about it is the only outlet available.
Jackie Robinson ⚾️
Today is the day when all of Major League Baseball uses the number 42 to remember Jackie Robinson’s debut as the first african american to play ball in the “Modern” era. His number was retired for every team but for one day each year all players get to honor him.
And now we have a baseball category
I’ve put on a new theme to see if I can make my micro blog feel more personal. Here, I might even post a picture that I took a few weeks ago. This is baseball season and I’m afraid my words on the matter will seep out. Apologies in advance, they probably won’t be important.
The rush of people trying to get a ticket to see the Star Trek Picard finale in IMAX seems to have brought down the ticketing agent to a 502 server error.
Shaka, when the servers failed
Just watched the teaser trailer for the upcoming MCU team up spectacular The Marvels… very enthusiastic response. There is energy, fun, and perhaps even an opportunity to see something new.
